A few days back, I was feeling very low and was not enthusiastic to do any work. But suddenly I got something that has increased my enthusiasm and willpower to do my day job.
What is this thing that boosted my energy and boosts my willpower to do work?
This one thing is “Half an hour of Exercise in the Morning”. But why do Exercise in Morning only and that too for 30 Minutes? What’s the secret behind this rule. We will discuss this in detail in this article.
This article is especially for people who work from 9 to 5 but if you have a different schedule then you can change it accordingly.
No Disturbance and Distractions
Yes, the biggest benefit of Morning exercise is that there are very little or no distractions during the morning. Most of people work from 9 to 5. If you wake up at 6, you have a 3-hour window in the morning.
The specialty of this time is most of your family members, especially kids, are sleeping. So there is a very low chance to get stuck in other people’s agendas during mornings compared to other times of day.
Morning Exercise Gives you Momentum For Your Day Job
As I tell you in the introduction of this article, a few days back I was feeling low in energy as a result of which, I was not feeling any enthusiasm to do my day jobs. What I have noticed is that when I started doing 30 minutes of exercise or jogging, I got more willpower to do even the toughest task in my day job.
According to the Book, The Now Habit (by Neil Fiore), “Suzanne Kobasa, a professor at the City University of New York, has identified what she calls “hardiness,” a constellation of three personality characteristics – commitment, control, and challenge.”
The book also says, “To build hardiness into the way you cope with work projects, you can practice attitudes of commitment, control, and challenge in leisure activities such as exercise.”
All you need to do is set a goal for your exercise, walking or running. Keep your goal a little ahead of your reach. For example, if you have the willpower of 10 Pushups, do 12 Pushups. This will improve your hardiness and thus helps in increasing your willpower.
Now some people will say that the same effects can be seen by exercising in the evening. Yes, it is true that evening exercise will do the same thing for you. But the fact is that in the evening you are already exhausted by your day job and you are left with less energy for exercise.
Possibility of Getting Sunlight and Vitamin D
According to an article published in Times of India, “It’s only the early morning sun — that is, from 7 am to 9 am — that helps generate Vitamin D. After 10 am, exposure to sunlight is harmful for the body.”
If you prefer jogging in the morning under an open sky then there is the possibility of exposure to sunlight rich in vitamin D. This is not the case in the evenings, as in the evening light there is no possibility of getting vitamin D. Thus this is a big advantage of morning jogging over the evening.
Also here I want to add that this rule is applicable only if you prefer to exercise or jog in the open sky.
How to Get Motivation for Morning Exercise
Now some people give an excuse that as they wake up they have very little motivation for exercise and feel low body energy. To stay motivated and persistent you need to act on the following tips:
Take Some Time Before Exercise
Here is a golden tip for you, “Never directly jump into your exercise Shoes just after waking up”. Give yourself some time before getting ready for exercising.
Take 20-30 minutes before you get ready for exercise. Brush your teeth, Wash your Face, and Have your morning tea, coffee, or whatever that refreshes your body. After 20 minutes you will feel fully energetic and more motivated. Now get ready, lace up your shoe and leave for the gym or ground.
Don’t work out for more than 30 Minutes
Yes, just 30 minutes of exercise daily can change your life. It is just a myth that you need to work out for hours for better fitness. Most of you also have to do your day job and if you waste all of your energy, exercising then it will affect your day job. Remember as discussed above, morning exercise is meant to be for gaining energy and momentum and not for losing energy.
So from this article, we have concluded that there are three major reasons, that Why You Should Exercise in the Morning? which are: Little distractions, Momentum For Your Day Job, and the Possibility of Getting Vitamin D.
Additional Tip: Don’t carry your mobile phone when you are out for exercise
